My Art

I see my art as an exploration. The fact that I am going to school for art history, gives me the inspiration and impetus to focus on more than one medium of art. I have always believed that the best way to learn about something is through experience. In addition to learning the history of a piece of art, the creation process and techniques come into play. Securing a position in an art museum is my main goal upon graduation. If I am to talk about a piece, I want to know the various processes in creating the art work so that I can be better prepared to explain it to visitors of the museum.
Over my course of study I have discovered what art I truly enjoy to create and what media I should avoid. I enjoy drawing, ceramics, sculpture, iron casting, woodworking, and photography. Painting is my nemesis. Most of all, I find I enjoy working in 3D form. I have traveled all over the world and have seen some magnificent pieces of art work. Some of my work reflects the exotic places I have seen throughout my life. I also like to keep true to my western roots. Along with traveling, history is important to me in creating art. In my prints I looked at a lot of old masters prints to study their style and composition.
I find that art is a way of expressing your inner self without having to say anything or worry about what other people will think. Someone is always going to have an opinion. Art is something anyone can do, but if your heart isn't in it, you may find it more difficult than you can imagine. Art is not for the faint of heart.

Color Photography "Tui"

I like  the depth of field in this photo of my dog as a baby, I like how only she is in focus and everything else around her isn't.

Deer Skull Graphite Drawing

In this drawing I focused more on the lighting and shadowed instead of line, it makes for a softer drawing.

Descending Type

I created this in my Typography class. In this piece I chose a font that I found interesting and then using the space I created an interesting display of this font.

Intaglio Print "Tyn Church Pargue"

This print is in the style of Piranesi. After seeing the city of Prague and the magnificent architecture, I just had to recreate the Tyn Church.

Print "Ali Baba"

I cut this print from a wood cut to give it more of a illustrated look.

Antelope Skull Graphite Drawing

In this drawing I used only line to create the shape and curve of the skull.
